| Description: | My course, German for Medical Personnel is for medical personnel who require German in their work or studies and presents realistic situations and specialized vocabulary that health-care professionals need to communicate with German-speaking patients in the course of their daily work. The emphasis is on cmmunication in a Medical context, with special attention to speaking and listenning.
Language development is accomplished through a wide variety of exercises, which show students how to apply new terms and phrases in many practical contexts. A preliminary presentation of the German vocabulary for human anatomy is included. All of the skill areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening are emphasized. The courses cover medical terminology, practice in specialist vocabulary and a review of basic grammatical structures. Students will also learn how to communicate with patients and medical colleagues, how to speak at seminars and medical meetings and how to read and write medical papers. Topic work includes an overview of the German Health Service. |

| Short-termtarget: | Students will consolidate and extend their knowledge of the German medical language. The course is primarily concerned with communication and negotiating skills in hospitals.Students will be trained in formulation, grammar theory and practice, letter composition and listening comprehension.
